I'm sharing my summer bucket list for the sole purpose of holding myself accountable of doing all these things.
Summer 2016
Where slow and steady is the way of life.
During February break I went to Telluride with my Family. I wasn’t really looking forward to the trip because everyone was going to Aspen and Vail, and I assumed Telluride was kinda lame. This was so far from accurate... Telluride was by far the coolest ski resort I have ever been to. The overall terrain was so vast and incredible. But the thing that really hooked me was the fact that there were absolutely no lines and there were hardly any people there. Aspen is filled with the day trippers from Denver, and no one wants to drive 6+ hours to Telluride. It was seriously underrated, and I couldn’t believe the ethereal beauty that this place possessed. Before we arrived I was convinced that I wouldn’t be able to ski every day, because we were going for a whole week. I just wanted to relax and make sure I treated the trip as a vacation because sometimes too much action is tiring. Once I was there, the thought of not skiing for a day was absurd. Since I hadn’t skied for 3 years before going to Colorado, I was nervous that I wouldn’t like it or I would be really bad. I am not going to lie in the beginning I definitely was not in double black diamond shape. But after a whole week of working hard on my form, and falling really hard on my face multiple times, I definitely improved. Starting on blues an double blues, then slowly working my way up to blacks and being able to do moguls. I am so happy with the way this trip went and I am looking forward to next year when we go back, because we are definitely going back!
Bungee jumping in Queenstown was one of the best most exhilarating things I have ever done. The Kawarau Bungy Center is 20 minutes from Queenstown and it has the first Commercial Bungy Jump and the Kawarau Zipride. Queenstown by itself was amazing but this just made all the much better. They let you choose if you would like to dunk in the water or not. My hands touched the water but I did not want to dunk because someone that had gone previously, told me that it is not a good feeling having water shoot up your nose at a very rapid pace, but its up to you. Either way it is amazing. This bridge is 43m up and compared to the Nevis Bungy is a piece of cake. The hard part however is getting yourself to jump off the ledge, because as much as you might want to it’s not easy to do the first time around. They do a great job in keeping you calm while they are strapping you up, they keep talking to you so you dont freak out and over think the fact that you are about to jump off a bridge. But once you're off, there is nothing in the world that compares to that feeling, almost as if you are flying. When I go back to Queenstown my goal is to conquer the Nevis Bungy, which is 143m up above the valley floor. For a first timer the Kawarau Bungy is a great jump and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. We went to Queenstown for four days and it was just not enough. Queenstown is known as the touristy party of New Zealand, but don’t let that drive you away because it is the most amazing town I have ever been too. While we were there we did the Shotover Jet ride, Luging, Bungy, took a boat along the lake (which was stunning), went biking along the water, got Fergburger and so much more! We went for a short amount of time because our family all lives in Wellington, but this town is packed full of things to do and you will never get bored. Can’t wait to go back!! -Queenstown, New Zealand.
i was really feeling the need to get into the christmas spirit today, considering it was 70 degrees out and it felt like summer. so i went to the botanical gardens with my family and my cousins from england. it has been a few years since i have been, and it was truly amazing, but to be completely honest i didn't really want to go at first. i have been a bit bah hum bug about the holidays this year and just not really being in the mood to play family games or watch family movies. but going to the garden, watching the train exhibit, and seeing all the landmarks recreated by bark just made me happy. seeing little kids get so utterly excited about the tiny trains zooming by just brought a smile to my face. plus i got to take cool pictures. honestly, any time i come home from somewhere with lots of pictures to look back on, i will always be happy! i love being able to write so freely on here and just say whatever i am feeling. i still haven't been able to decide whether or not i want to write in capitals. at first i did but it took more effort and time, and i like how carefree lowercase looks. idk yet.
here are some pictures from today
