Stress is gross and annoying, so here are tips on how to handle and relieve stress in your life.
Step BackIf you are stressing out about school, or you have a huge list of things you need to get done, then it’s important to take a break. Whether this is a 5 minute break or a 30 minute one, it’s effective in calming yourself down. Go get coffee or make yourself a lemon water, because it will make you feel refreshed and rejuvenated before you get back to work.
Make a ListMaking To-Do lists is probably one of my favorite things to do. Getting everything that you have to do down on paper can help you keep track of your messy life. Also it's super fun having to cross out the things that you have accomplished.
Take care of yourself. If it's finals week or a busy week in your life, you can't forget to stay on top of your health. Eating well and getting enough sleep will give you enough energy to study and it will make you feel better overall. Exercise will release endorphins, therefor making you happier, which is important because stress can lead to depression.
Talk about itThere is no point in pushing all your problems away because they will eventually come back. If someone is in a similar situation then talk to them about how you are feeling, especially if you are feeling overwhelmed, because you are never alone.
Accept the things you can’t changeThere is no point in fighting the fact that you have a huge test or that you have a ton of work to do, so just do it. Having a positive outlook on whatever is causing you stress will ultimately pay off in the long run.
Stress can sometimes consume people, it consumes me all the time. But it’s important to really try to not let it get to you. The main thing I tend to stress about is school. Try to picture the world as a whole, and think of how small you are compared to the universe. Whatever is making you stress seems pretty meaningless when you see yourself as a tiny speck on the globe. Remember to breathe, and whatever you are freaking out about will not determine your life's future.
P.S- If it’s college that you are stressing out about (for most people it is), then just remember, Life is not about where you go, it’s about what you do.
